Hello, so I have a juvenile axolotl and he’s living in a 10 gallon at the moment. I was wondering when he gets big would putting him in an extra long 12 gallon or a 20 gallon only filled to 10 or 15 gallons work for him? Or would that be to small? I’m trying to find something comfortable for him other than my 10 gallon as I’m living in a small apartment and I cannot go to a full 20 gallon tank.

Axolotls can get pretty big. My boy is 10 and a half inches long and was pretty cramped in the 15 gallon tank I used to keep him in. I'd definitely recommend you getting a 20 gallon for your axolotl.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
