Hello, All!

I am a newt/salamander collector and enthusiast from Colorado.

I got into the hobby a few years ago with a handful of rescued tiger salamanders. From there, I have slowly accumulated a variety of others. this is my collection as it stands today:

Tiger salamanders (Ambystoma tigrinum)
Axolotls (Ambystome mexicanum)
Rough-Skin Newts (Taricha granulosa)
Ensatina Salamanders (Ensatina eschscholtzii)
Iberian Ribbed Newts (Pleurodeles waltl)
Chinese Firebelly Newts (Cynops orientalis)
Red-Cheek Salamanders (Plethodon jordani)

and in the process of, hopefully, acquiring Cave Salamanders (Eurycea lucifuga)

I love the wide variety and cute personalities these creatures bring into my home!

I know I'm late but if you ever want any Taricha Granulosa we have some that are eggs right now and will be ready to sell in 8-12 months

I am interested in obtaining some jordani or another member of the sp complex. How do you care for yours? @Nexbane

Welcome buddy! Nice collection. I'll definitely look forward to you posting more on your Chinese Firebelly Newts.

Are you still looking to adopt some of these guys out potentially?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
