I really can't find any information on this so I'm not sure what the best plan is.
My little newt has been rather bloated and swollen looking but only in the abdomen and it's making him float the varying degrees. I'm pretty sure it's not bloat as his skin i the same and a symtoms come and go.
Could it be constipation?
Sometimes he walks fine along the bottom, sometimes he's right at the top of the water and finds in difficult to get down - his bottom isn't floating but the central point is closer to his back than head. I think his cloaca is a bit swollen which has led me to this conclusion. They only treatment I'v seen for such issues is the fridging I see in axolotls so my question is -
Would this help a newt? if not any suggestion on what might?
(as for vets, there are not reptiles ect. specialist near me)

The only time I have encountered a problem like this is with a CFBN larva, it was floating on its side, but still clearly alive. It turned out to be trapped wind. Could this maybe be the case with yours?
