Just thought i would share this photo of a white tadpole that hatched a while ago in my pond - it was moments away from being axolotl food when i spotted it among the normal black tadpoles i had scooped up in my net - so now it is living in a luxury pond apartment with top quality slime as I wait for it to turn into a white frog. I am in Western Australia and this tadpole will become a Motorbike Frog - Litoria moorei - when it (hopefully) makes it through metamorphosis. At first i thought it was an albino but not sure now as it seems to have pigment around its mouth and a bit of colour in its eyes.

Very interesting.....it is a beautiful tadpole. Keep us updated on its growth, I would love to see it when it is a frog. I once found an albino red-legged frog ( Rana aurora ), it was weird, it was slow and lethargic seeming. I don't know how it made it to adulthood, but it was pretty cool!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
