Selling Axolotls (Australia)

I was just wondering if you need a licence to sell axolotls in Queensland. I have some beautiful little juveniles, but I'm unsure whether I can sell them or if I have to offload them to an aquarium shop, which I don't feel too confident doing.

I dont think so, ive seen people breeding them and selling them at markets. so i dont think its a problem, but call up the rspca and they will let u know if u need one or not.

No licence is needed. Axolotles are not considered amphibians by the national parks or wild life services. Acording to the licencing of the national parks or wild life services says that pet shops are not alowed to sell any reptiles or amphibians and not to have them on there property. As many pet shops sell axolotls this does not apply to them

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
