Paramesotriton laoensis NOT breeding

hi to all.
i have 4 parameso lao, 1 male, 3 females.
i kept them at house temperature (20 deg) for march-april. when in may it became hot (24deg celsius) i put on a cooler and kept them all the summer at 18 degrees.
in november, i started drop down the temp, at 16 deg.
now are 3 monthe that are kept so cold, and nothing seems happen.

when i dropped, they seemed very scary, they wanted to escape, they did not eat. in one month they became less scary. i keep the light off, the only light it provided by other acquariums and a window. so, they have not so many light.

i started a new thread becouse i would know how you have kept your animals, to be able to breed them in the future and not to make all together the same errors.

Bye Ema

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
