Just be sure not to feed too many waxies. They're fattening.

I call waxworms "crack for salamanders". It sounds funny but once they get a taste for them... oh dear.

I don't feed waxworms to aquatic animals but I do feed them as a stable to tiger salamanders. I personally have not found them particularly fattening, but the animals to which I have fed them generally get around a lot and burrow all the time (i.e. tiger salamanders).

I give them to my tiger salamander a lot, but he doesn't seem to be fattening up as much as I worried he would do. Just be sure to vary a lot!

Yeah i give him Live bloodworms on a regular basis but evry now and then cricket or waxie sum times frozen blood worms

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
