Re: She has laid eggs

Hello All,

Still can’t quite believe it even though I sort of new, as seen in my previous post that she was possibly about to lay.

Does anyone know if they have been bred more than once in captivity before? I know that Jean bred them but has it been done again.

Also is it a first for the UK? The Marketing team want to know at my work.

Fingers crossed now the eggs are good.

Kind Regards
Jay

hope the eggs go well, I have never heard of anybody in the UK breeding them, although I may be wrong.

I will definately be keeping an eye on this thread

Fantastic, Jay! I've never heard of any other UK breedings. Hopefully they will develop ok. Keep us informed...

Re: She has laid eggs

I seem to recall a couple of breedings in europe at most, none of which were in the UK so it seems you are indeed the first!

I'm glad to hear they're hanging around upside down for a reason, congrats!

Re: She has laid eggs

Congrats!
What a great success!

Did she leave the eggs alone?
Might you show the whole tank?
What are your current temperatures and during winter?

Thank!

Regards,
Mario

Hi Mario,

I will write up Husbandry Guidelines on this at some point this year maybe.

At the moment she is still with the eggs and the behaviour is extraordinary she uses her snout right to left moving individual eggs from side to side aswell as tail movements fanning the eggs to oxygenate them I presume. So it would seem that she cares for the eggs, I will try and video it at some point.

There are pictures and videos of the tank on other Threads I have done.

Temperature in winter was between 10-13˚C, the temperature now is between 13-15˚C.

Kind Regards

Jay

Kind regards

Congratulations Jay, have these gone offshow for the breeding season, or are they still viewable by visitors?
