Fire belly newt.

What do you do when a newt has a dislocated front arm?
Hes pretty small about 2 1/2 inches. Hes still eating and swimming around fine. Is there anything I can do to help him?
 
If he has a tankmate, separate them. Beyond that, not much you can do. Newts are good at healing, so just keep him eating and as stress-free as possible.
 
Yeah that's what I did. But will his arm be able to move normally again? Should I amputate it so a new one can regenerate? How long will it take to heal?
 
An amputation would risk infection. If the skin isn't broken, I wouldn't amputate. If the newt is aquatic, it'll be OK even if it partially loses function - you mentioned that he's eating and swimming fine. I don't have answers beyond that.

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
