White spots on newt

Hey guys. I was looking at my newt today and noticed some whitish spots on him. What could it be and how could you treat it? The ammonia is 0, temp. mid-high 60's, ph neutral.
 
What type of newt is it? How long have you had it? Does it have any tankmates? A better description of the white spots would be helpful - how many, how large, where located, etc.
 
It's a taricha granulosa. I've had it for 7-8 years. His only tank mate is his female. The white spots are kind of small and they're located on the side of his belly and above his back leg. There are only 2 or 3.

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
