I've just bought some plastic tubing from a hardware shop (like the tubes you have for bathrooms and stuff), and I was wondering if I needed to treat it somehow (?) before putting it in the axiquarium...

More worried that it will let toxins out into the water!

It depends on what type of plastic it is.

I usually soak mine in hot water for 24 hours, scrub all of the crevices with an old toothbrush, and then rinse with dechlorinated water.
