I’ve been lurking around soaking up all the knowledge here for the last month or two and have purchased a tank and chiller and am gathering decor etc in anticipation of acquiring a few Axolotls. This place has been an invaluable resource so far, and I’m so excited to continue learning from everyone here!

Welcome to Caudata! I’m an axolotl breeder in Ohio and I do offer shipping and meeting locally if you are still looking for axies ☺️
I also participate in many Reptile shows and expos all around OH, IN, KY and soon WV!
Our website is www.GemCityAxolotls.com and currently have a lot of summertime deals going on to make room for new babies! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out ?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
