Baby axies and airstone

i have three baby axies, about 4 weeks old in an 18 inch long tank. I have an airstone that is around 15inches long. The pump is a separate pump which pumps 1.2 ltrs of air per minute.

Last night i put the airstone into the tank and as soon as it turned on my axies started swimming like they were struggling through the current. However, they do enjoy the bubbles as they approach them they do not turn to swim away, they ride the bubbles and even sit near the bubbles.

so my question is, is this airstone suitable for my axies at this age?

Thankyou.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
