One of my axolotls has been floating on her side and struggles to stay at the bottom of the tank. This happened before when she swallowed a piece of gravel ( I have since switched to sand) she doesn't look physically bloated, she looks the same as usual but is still struggling to stay down. Should I fridge her? Advice please

Hmm...possibly an air bubble?
What is the Axolotl's conditions/parameters? What length is it? I have experienced this with younger axolotls (4 inches and under).

i would like help too if possible. mine is doing the same, i was assuming he has bloat too but just as BETHANYSB im not sure whether to fridge him.
he is about 4 inches and struggling to stay at the bottom and floating on his side, i thought i saw an air bubble but not sure, he is in with another axie but the other seems fine.
he was sick yesterday but assumed he ate too much.
any advice would be much appreciated. i dont mean to encroach on you thread sorry.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
