Hello, I still am not certain that my african bullfrog is actually an african bullfrog. Heres the pic
http://www.reptilecrazy.co.uk/uploads/images/197_Bullfrog1.jpg

The line on its head isnt the water level, as it does have a creamy coloured line behind its eyes. THe eyes point upowards a bit, and have a albino like eyes, which are red in some angles.
It is a powerful swimmer and doesnt have the appetite of what ive heard as an africans.
It spends most of its time in water. It secretes mucus if it is handled.

Any ideas??

thanks

I've seen a lot of Pyxies and I have to say that although it looks quite unusual I do think it's a Pyxie. I would say Pyxicephalus edulis.

thanks, ive been searching for a while and couldnt find and other species with the skin texture

The old owner bought it as a giant african bullfrog, but alot of people have been telling me that it doesnt look like one, and without ever properly seeing one before, i cant really conferm the species. What about the red eyes? Is that normal with these frogs?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
