I have made a few posts but should probably introduce myself too, although I have been a lurker for a few years now.

My real name is one and the same as my username.

I am from the eastside of Cleveland, Ohio and my main interest is in Ohio herpetology. By day I am a naturalist at a county park district which allows me to get out and do some herp work on the clock. At home I am in the process of building a native salamander tank to house a few of the local stream species and hopefully accomplish some breeding. I am also teaching myself the finer points in herp photography.

We are very happy to have you! Thanks for introducing yourself. You have a job that I'm sure many of us here would envy.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
