Do you have a better shot of the tail?
 
Dwarves with crinkle tail? I should hope not... Glad these ones have found a good home, though.
 
I think I see some deformed limbs as well. Must have been some genetic abnormalities that caused the mutation, maybe the result of inbreeding. Or possibly something stunted the development. Either way, they are certainly unique little cuties!
 
Ok now I am kinda of freaking out. They are pretty healthy and I adore them but the posts here make me think I have “mutants”. No offense of course! Tails are very crinkly! I will look to see if I can find a closer photo of their tails.

Nothing to be freaked out over, just looks like you have dwarf axies. I've never seen a crinkled tail naturally like that though!
 
She's is beautiful!!! I have a dwarf axie as well, though her tail is not as unique as yours!
 
In fact, I was looking at images on the web just now and I don't believe there are any other axies with wavy tails! You have one special axolotl!
 
Hi, I'm new to this site and new to axolotls, I've hatched some just after Christmas and a few have wavy tails?? They are all eating and pooping well. I'm keeping 2 but going to rehome the other 6. I need some help please.... a lady took 2(well her boyfriend collect two, but shes now telling me they are deformed and should of been culled or put to sleep???? Please help

im not an expert but id say watch how they behave, if the tail kinks are limiting movement or ability to swim those ones should be put down, the ones with deformities furthest from the torso might grow up ok but the one with a hard kink right where the tail begins may have issues with the lower legs and organs.

i would not allow these to breed but they might be ok as pets. if any of them seem to be struggling i do think it would be kind to humanly put them to sleep (freezer seems to be a common method).

unless the animals quality of life is at risk or is actively being lowered due to their deformities they should not be put to sleep. if they have the will to survive and are still eating and passing waste, being playful and swimming around, and don’t seem to be in pain, keep them. people are so quick to cull dwarves or kinked tail axolotls, when they can realistically have a good (if somewhat shortened) life. as they get older they can have intestinal issues in which case euthanasia may be the best option, but as long as they are young and spry and happy, they absolutely should be kept alive.
i would not sell these as anything other than pets, and heavily inform the customer that the axolotl will in fact have a shortened lifespan and some possible health difficulties as their life goes on.

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
