I'm not familair with that unit but I prefer to use undegravel filters.

Does the unit have a key or switch so you can throttle it down?

Read some of recent threads in sick axies...John advises of one or two conditions caused by too much current in tanks

By the looks of that, i think your local has either over priced it or they think they will get loads for it, is it the only local place that stocks things like this?

That looks good enough for the tank, I used to use a undergravel filter until I changed to sand, which is too fine to use with it.

Good luck

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
