The first pic of the constipated axie is pretty much what my albino looks like at the moment. His genitals are about 5x the normal size and it looks like there is a cut running down the centre of the area exposing flesh. He is very pink and his gills have become a deep red. He is swimming around but looks uncomfortable and is hanging around the top of the tank a lot more than usual.

Please if any one has any input - is he constipated or could it be something more sinister? Any feedback would be appreciated as to what it may be and what I could do to help him through this!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
