Hello!
So in October I got my first axolotl. Rowan is now about a year old. He’s very healthy and active and seems happy in his 20 gal. I got the 20 gal in December hoping to get another axolotl to house him with. In February I got my second axolotl when he was only a week or two old, so he’s about 5-6 months and is doing well in his 10 gallon. He is still quite a bit smaller than Rowan, but he eats the same amount. Would it be too early to move him into the bigger tank so they can live together? If not how long should I wait?

I recommend waiting until they are the same size, to avoid any attacking from the larger one.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
