Hey my name is Danielle. I'm a cake decorator from PA. I have always had an interest in amphibians since i was a kid. I had my share of newts and frogs but im particularly interested in learning a little more about axolotls . Im excited to be here. Later! ;)

Welcome to the forum Danielle! You've definitely come to right place for axies. Although I'll pre-warn you, once you get an axolotl the addiction will kick in and you'll find yourself wanting (read getting;)) more.:D

I love these forums! I hope you get as much out of them as I do!

Welcome to the forum. Their are lots of salamander enthusiasts in Penna. I hope you saw the posts on the axolotl cake.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
