Question: Axolotl ill or pregnant???

She is 18 months old and lives with another female and a male,neither female has laid eggs,she has been bloated like this for about 4 days,she has some white substance coming out of her

Does the white thing look like an egg?

She looks a bit big to be just full of eggs.

I would suggest a vets visit.

it is like stringy stuff,she does keep going and sitting in the plants,she has been doing that for 48 hours,I am wondering if she is actually a male?she has never laid eggs before

I cant really tell because the cloaca is so swollen.
It looks like some internal infection or something.

Definitely a vet visit if poss.

What do you feed and how much? Does the other one look ok? I would split them up.

It would seem to me to be some sort of internal illness. To my knowledge I don't believe amphibians can ever get "too full" of eggs, (or any animal for that matter). However if something is infected in her reproductive tract...that may cause some sort of blockage.

If sand is the only substrate in the tank, I would still suggest a vet visit.

she is definately a female and the white stuff in her cloaca looks like an egg. I think she will have had laid eggs and that´s why we didn´t get an answer for the last 5 days.:D

I have been on another forum and have seen a similar post about this axolotl. Unfortunately she died.

In the other forum the owner said the axie lost an eye?. wonder how it manage to do that? its not the normal thing to get bitten off by another axie.

poor little thing. wonder if it saw a vet?

Yeah I was wondering this too. I think she died from fungus.
