Ah! I am so glad it's working for you! That's great. I bet it will help him relax a lot. Looking at it, you might want to test lowering it a half inch though. I don't know if yours do, especially with the floating, but mind hate it when any part of them is out of the water, and it looks like the top of his back is?

Either way, I hope this reduces his stress and makes him feel better! I'm glad he's using it too!

After coming back from a vacation my axolotls have not improved. The guy looking after them said they looked normal apart from the floating. I was hoping for a miracle while I was away tbh.
My algae has bloomed cos he didn't turn the lights on and off. It's absolutely disgustingc will it harm the axies? Ill get it all off tomorrow of course.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
