My salamander looks suddenly emaciated, please help!

I have had a fire salamander for about four months now, and for most of that time he was a little bit skinnier than most slamanders but he was eating so I gigired that it was just him. But just a day or two ago all of a sudden he looks seriously emaciated and I haven't a clue why. It's to the point where when I pick him up I can feel all of his ribs. I feed him about four small crickets every day and for the most part he appeared to be eating them. I change his water every day and the tank stays at like 66 degrees. I have no idea what's happening. Also, I don't know if this is related but this morning, I watched him go into his water bowl and run in circles really fast for like a good minuet or two. Please if anyone has any ideas I would greatly appriciate them!

Try feeding chopped up night crawlers and maybe a few waxworms occasionally

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
