Been off his food for a week, and just went peacefully today. I had no idea how old he was as he was dumped at a petshop. I'm really sad. I wish to get another at some point. Can anyone give me some advice & maybe recommend where I can get a baby. thanks :(

That's too bad. At least you made him comfortable in his last days.

The spring is usually the best time to look for babies, but usually all year long, someone on the board is offering eggs/larvae. Keep an eye on the for-sale ads.

Thanks..... is there a for sale section on here? I don't really know my way round :(

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
