Hi all...

Thought I'd share some pictures here as well.
Two axies called Pancho (gold one) and Bob (wild color) in a 5 weeks old planted tank setup. Little guys are growing pretty quick now and I've just started feeding them worms now as well.

Quick setup:
120cm x 35cm x 50cm
DIY moving filter supported by small aquaflow 100 (both will soon be replaced by a Eheim External filter)
Sand and light gray gravel (1-2mm)
Dark Basalt Rocks
Driftwood, Spiderwood and Mopani Wood
Plants: Cabomba Aquatica, Microsorum Pteropus, Anubias Nana and Javamos
2 Led bars both timed. White bar has a range of 7000k

More photo's etc. coming soon.
Hope you like it :)

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
