Have any of you ever purchased earthworm eggs? I found a site that sells them by the pound. I'm going to buy a pound and see how they do. I have 3 worm bins but can never produce enough worms to keep up with my salamanders demands. Hopefully the eggs will jump start my production.

Wow, a pound of worm eggs would make quite a lot of worms! Nope, I've never bought them. But I do have a cool photo that I took of a worm egg. You can see the baby worm(s) coiled up inside.

Nice photo. They separate the eggs out when they harvest the worm castings. I should get about 2500 worms hatching out of 1 lb of eggs.

How do the prices run? I couldn't imagine not having enough worms...but then again I do not keep many newts.

They are around 30.00 a lb. It looks like the supplier might discontinue the offer. I don't know if I'll be getting them or not.
My tylototritons are the biggest worm eaters but the others and a couple Pipa parva put a big dent in them too.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
