Hi,

Yesterday I fed my axolotl novolotl XL staple food for axolotls which she seemed to enjoy but then spent the next 12 hours throwing it all up. She is incredibly bloated and has a lot of trouble swimming, shes not floating just stuck at the bottom of her tub. I'm not sure if I should fridge her or leave her be or idk whats going on. Temperature 16 degrees celsius and ammonia n ph levels normal

https://imgur.com/a/iLDBzvp heres a pic of her belly which has two lumps in it. she doesn't have any substrate in her tank so i'm suspecting its the pellets? should i fridge her?

I'd suggest fridging until someone else can tell you what it could be and what to do. There is a fridging guide on here if you need it. Is she pooping normally, and is she interested in food?

She isn't interested at all in food, but yeah I'll put her in the fridge thank you!

She probably wont eat while in the fridge too as it slows metabolism, but she can go longer without food in there. Keep us posted with any changes

I wasn't able to keep mushu in the fridge because I wasn't able to get the temperature of the water up to 5 degrees. I think a solution is to put frozen water bottles in her tub? To keep the water cool. She's looking a lot less bloated today and sliding around on her stomach less which is good. I also haven't seen her poop in ages so she may be pretty badly constipated. How can I fix this?

Keeping the water cool and clean should help with the bloating, I'm not sure if there are any other solutions. Give frozen bottles a go, or even a fan over the water if you can.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
