Exclamation New axolotl help

Iím sure this has been discussed a lot.. but I have just received my first axi! She is about 6.5Ē long and 8 months old. I got her about 4 days ago. I have a cave set up, black sand, and fake plants with no rough edges. She seems to really like walking around the bottom and exploring but she has no interest in food. I have tried pellets as well as worms. Iíve tried hand feeding, using tongs and simply dropping the worms in.. nothing. I am worried she isnít eating. As well as her habit of going to the top for air. Before receiving her I made sure that my 10 gallon tank was completely cycled. Everything reads 0ppm and the pH is around 7ish sometimes higher and slightly lower depending on water changes.

My questions are:
Is it normal behavior for her not to eat after being shipped?
Is the gulping for air okay or should I add air stones?

Thank you everyone in advance. Iím already pretty attached to her and I want to make sure I give her the best life possible!

Default Re: New axolotl

She looks pretty healthy, I see this post is a bit older now. how is she doing? Was her tank cycled properly before she was added?
I personally have an airstone in my tank but I have it set to very low. My axolotl loves playing in the bubbles. some people find that they stress them out but you never really know till you get one.
I feed mine frozen bloodworms that I thaw and use a turkey baster to deliver. I also feed frozen brine shrimp, earthworms and occasionally wax worms or beefheart as a treat.
When I first obtained my axolotl she did not want to eat a whole lot either and she wasn't even shipped, I went and picked her up. Moving is just a stressful process sometimes and a period of adjustment is needed. An axolotl her size should only need to be fed every other day or so.
I hope she has adjusted well, Good Luck!
