Hey it's been a bit over a month since I de-gravelled my tank after worries that my newt had ingested rocks. He's been eating but he sort of "Swallows" quite a few times per mouthful, so i'm not sure if he keeps it down, and I'm wondering if by this point it's likely he's had a rock stuck in his system, or if I might be in the clear. Here's a video that I also have under paddle-tail, to see if there's any red flags in the setup, or the looks of the Labiatus.

Here is the same newt one month ago:

If he's eating and pooping i'd say you are in the clear, sounds like normal feeding to me, they are greedy and tend to take big mouthfuls.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
