GH- 100-120 ppm
KH- 80-120 ppm
pH- 7.5
Nitrite- <0.75 ppm
Nitrate- Virtually 0 ppm, def less than 10

I am mostly concerned about nitrite levels, I got some different types of anubias since that helps in the nitrogen cycle but I have yet to see their effect. I change 40% of my 20 gallon on Mondays and Fridays. Any tips?

I use 2 drops/gallon of seachem prime and carbonates for pH and KH in every water addition.

nitrites tell you that your cycle isnt fully finished, any nitrites at all is a concern with livestock in the tank

It looks like you are using strips.

Please invest in an API freshwater master test kit

The strips are highly inaccurate

BUT nitrites showing and low nitrates you have an uncycled tank so your lotl should be tubbed

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
