A few of this years larvae are living with their parents at the moment, so I've been putting live food in regularly to keep the adults well fed. I was worried there wouldn't be enough suitable small food for the babies, but they've moved on to whole live bloodworms already. They're less than a week old and the bloodworms are longer than they are!

That's crazy. Even my baby largemouth bass (known as the in hail everything fish to me) wouldn't eat stuff that would completely stuff them. I always had to chop goldfish and worms for them. Btw I love your tank. What kind of plants do you have in there.
 
I love it! My Lissotriton babies always surprise me with the size of things they are willing to tackle.

Off topic, but what kind of grass-like plant is that in your tank? Looks fantastic.
 
It's Eleocharis acicularis I think? I got two little sprigs from ebay last year and it's slowly creeping in all directions across the bottom.

There's all sorts, when i set the tank up last year I just bought plants that I liked the look of and left them to grow. Some are tropical but they've been fine in cold water so far, if there's any in particular that you like, point them out and i'll try and remember what they're called. :)

Did you get the live bloodworm locally? I have had trouble finding any.
 
Yes, I get mine from Wharf, but Mastin moor aquatics have a delivery on thursdays, I think. The quality there has been dubious in the past, though...

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation
