Hi Ira,
Talk about serendipity, It was neat to see a guy in a Caudata.org show today. It was weird that the Tylototriton showed up right after you asked about one.

you'll be happy to know he is doing great too. he ate two wax worms as soon as i got him into his quarentine tank.

update on new newt:

What a personable little guy, he saw me cutting up the night crawlers next to his quarentine tank and he just sat there like an expectant dog. didnt even run and hide when i opend the lid on his tank. he just walked over and took the earth worm right out of my hands, and is now sitting ontop of his hid looking at me like "hey bud, where is the rest?!"

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
