Guppies

I was curious if guppies are good as a staple diet or if they should only be fed very occasionally? Also can the guppies be left in the same tank as the Axi, as I've heard rumours of goldfish attacking their gills.
Another thing for people from the UK: do we actually know if it's illegal to feed live fish (I think it's illegal to feed live vertebrates).

guppies from the pet stores often carry parasites which can be carried on to your axies. if you breed them yourself then they should be fine to feed occasionally. you are right about them nipping at the axies gills. when i feed mine guppies i just give them one each and make sure i watch them eat it.i highly doubt that its illigal to feed live vertebrates.

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
