Help? I don’t know if this is normal or not.

So, my axolotl, Dollar, has a transparent under body. Like, you can see his organs almost clearly. Is that okay? As he has grown up, he has lost color and gained that transparency. His back side is almost all black, with a few colored spots.

He is about 2.5 inches long, give or take.
Dollar still eats and acts normal and healthy
He lives in a 10 gallon tank, with sand and tons of plants.
Good air flow, about 67 degrees Fahrenheit.

Can you post a photo? You can often see organs like the liver in lighter coloured axolotls so it may be normal, but a photo will clear that up.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
