Default Our Juvenile Fire Sals

Thought you might like to see some shots of the gang (31 in all).

They are approx 1.5 months old so still a way to go...having said that one of them crawled right out the water today and sat merrily on a stone soaking up all the admiration!

He still had gills but they have all been gulping air for weeks!

They are Terrestris variation.

Although we still have a long way to go with these guys, my thanks go to everyone involved with this fabulous website who have helped and advised along the way, particularly Ian Riggs and Mike East.

I salute you all, my fellow 'Caudate Loonies'!!

Mike

Default They are on their way!!!!

Hi Ian,

Went away to germany on a work trip and came back to find 5 have left the water and are gradually getting their YELLOW/BLACK colouring!!!!

Very excited!

Will get some pics soon.

Sadly have lost 2 very small weak juves...suppose this is just survival of the fittest. So up to now we are down to 29 from 34 originally born. 3 lost just after birth and now 2 close to morphing. Is this down to the extra stress of birth and morphing do you think?

Will pop up again soon mate.

Hope your gang are doing well?

Cheers,

Mike

Hi Gang!

Here are some more images from the Gent household!

5-6 have now left the water and are gradually getting their colour.

In some cases it has been less than 2 months since birth, but then some appear to be nowhere near ready and it will be more like 3 months for them.

The variation in patterns etc is very exciting.

The biggest shock has been how they all shrink when the morphe!

Thanks to all who have offered help and advice and especially to my mate Ian Riggs, cheers dude!

Hope you like them,

Mike.

PS most are 1" long when leaving the water!

Default Thanks

Hi Gang!

Thank you for all the kind comments....as a typical father I can only say that all the hard work was done by their mother (Who by the way has been happily enjoying a kid free zone in a seperate tank with hubby and his 'other woman'....who incidentally seems to be rather large in the abdominal area!!!!!.....here we go again!).

My biggest fear is that I am about to take a much needed 2 week vacation and have had to put all the young into the care of a friend....who I dont think realised the implications and responsibility until today when I ran through the whole 'this bottle is for bed time, that food is for morning' stuff!!!!!

Lets all keep our fingers crossed and hope they all survive while I am away!

When I get back I will get some more shots and post them on....and eventually hope to have a gradual cucle of events to be able to show the changes from start to finish.

I salute you all, fellow caudate loonies!

Mike
