Hey,

finally! I am very glad that all my favorites made it into the calendar: Vide´s Speleomantes, Tim´s Nyctanolis pernix, John´s Pseudotriton ruber (btw - is it the same one which is currently on display in this years calendar??) and, of course, Super Taricha!
And of course I am veeery proud that two (!) of my pictures received enough votes as well.

Now I´ll keep my fingers crossed that Santa reaches my (German) chimney in due time...

Cheers,
Laura

Congratulations everyone!

Laura - this is Pseudotriton ruber schenckii, from southeastern Tennessee (found by me in May this year). Last year's calendar has a Pseudotriton ruber nitidus, from Virginia (caught by Justin/Greatwhtehunter).

I'm going to make the calendars this week so watch out for the announcement.

Ah, ok thanks - I couldn´t check today because it´s hanging on my office wall. Tomorrow (Monday) morning I will then be greeted by the beautiful Pseudotriton ruber nitidus again

Cheers,
Laura

awesome.

I'm curious about Sara's pic - is that a melanistic red eft? Or do some of them just get that dark?

Can't wait to order my calendar :)

Molch,

Actually that is a red-eft with a Firebelly Newt (Cynops sp.). The eft was a native guy I found while doing field research. The Firebelly was a stowaway egg on an aquatic plant that I friend bought at a local fish store and raised.

I'm not aware of any melanistic Red-spotted newts, but I suppose it is possible. :)

Hi Mario,

Which names are wrong - at least I can fix those for others. I saw no mistakes when I was making it. Regarding photo quality, frankly I agree - there are a couple of photos on the calendar this year which are not of suitable quality for a large document like that. Unfortunately I don't think we were stringent enough with our selection policy this year. Having said that, the overall number of entries this year was smaller than usual so in order to have the best variety possible, a compromise was necessary.

Best wishes,

John
