Tiger Salamander & Axolotl (Ambystoma tigrinum, A. mavortium spp, etc.) The Tiger Salamanders and the Axolotl are so popular amongst hobbyists that they have been given their own topic. If you're particularly interested in the Axolotl, there is a large section of the forum devoted mainly to beginner Axolotl enthusiasts (not this topic).

Default New Tiger

I just got a new little tiger salamander yesterday! And I mean little. Iíve never seen a tiger salamander so small! He came into the store with a shipment of small waterdogs, and they told me he morphed after a few days! They didnít have him in an terrestrial set up, but he is more than happy to venture around the land in his new home. I assume this is the small morph of tiger salamander. I have yet to decide on a name, any ideas?

Just as a reference for how small this little dude is, here he is next to Salaman. Mind you, he already has a lot of color!

I'm assuming you don't house them together right? I got nervous just looking at the little one so close to the big one's mouth. I know my tiger would try to snap anything that size up in a heartbeat!

My salamander is even smaller than yours. How much more has yours grown since August?
