It's always nice to be helpful with our comments...

What Lulu is trying to say is that these are very rare finds.

The closest I have to odd color axolotls are gray melanoid. I'm also looking for some peibald, harlequin, spotted gold, etc axolotls. Their are not many around. I think most of the really odd ones do not breed true and may not be genetically strong.

This I know. But I figured I post it anyway. I figured if there were any out there this would be one of the first places they'd show up. Does any one know about the genetics behind the harlequin? I love to try to produce it myself.

I have one axolotl that is very different from the rest. It came from a group of leucistic and wild-types. I am not sure what to call it because it has black patches on it's sides along with yellow patches and white. I've only seen one like it.

Is it still that young? It's hard to make a judgement on whether it's unusual or not when it's that small. It looks like a leucistic to me.

He's about 3.5 inches long now. The color on half of it's face is white. When I compare it to a leucistic from the same group there is a clear difference in the color.

Here's an updated photo with one of it's leucistic sibblings.
The above thread is about him/her.
