Just acquired two fire bellied newts one of them seemed a little big after eating two mealworms(both were cut in half) a couple of days ago and still looks it now. If you can look at the pics attached, could you tell me if I'm worried for nothing or is that bloat

Also, I just wanted to say if you don't know already, meal-worms aren't a good feeder for newts, chopped Canadian night-crawlers (Worms) that you can get at a fishing store or Walmart, and they are much more nutritious than meal-worms, and they are easier to digest

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
