My name's Kadence~ you can call me Kaye as well~
I own two lovely salamanders:
one is an albino axolotl named DIO
and the other is a young tiger salamander who's subspecies is kind of unclear. His name is Malachite

So story time, i thought my tiger salamander was an axolotl until about a week ago when he started morphing!!! I got so panicked but did research immediately and found out that i had had a young tiger salamander for months without knowing!!
Everything has worked out so far and he's happily digging around his new terrarium but boy was it a surprise!

That's a big oops , i can almost imagine how terrify you must have been,I know I would. But are they both boys or girls? I can't help wonder about how tiger and axolotl mate ...I know they did before that's how axolotl have many colors now but I never actually seem them do it  :D

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
