I am raising about 130 babies (now 1-3 inches) whose parents were
DdMmAa x ddmmaa
So I have wild types, melanoid, leucistic, and albino
What I am trying to figure out is the best lighting setup to distinguish the melanoid albinos from white albinos and the white leucistics from melanoid leucistic. In other words I'm looking for irridiphores in ring around eye.
Is daylight the best for seeing it? Any advice on a good way to quickly and painlessly determine which they are? I avoid bright lights for the little guys since they lack eyelids but when someone requests a certain type (phenotype) I want to get it right when I sell them.
the golden albinos are fairly easy to spot. ;)
Thanks!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
