Lighter Wildtype Colour Change!

Hi there,

I just thought I'd share pics of my Wildtype, who has decided in his old age to change his colour! This started about a year ago ...

He is completely healthy, eats plenty of worms and he still chases the female Leucistic every now and again .. the usual happy axolotl life :p

He still has his markings, they are just really light. He also has a brown outline around his tail. Photo's don't do him justice!
 
That is awesome! I have never seen anything like that before!!!

Thanks for the comments, sorry it's been a while since I last logged on.

Unfortunately this li'l guy passed away last Christmas and I don't have any other pictures showing his colour change.

He looked very light like a Leucistic but with his wildtype markings :eek:

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
