This is Monster - he was a bit of a premature baby - he looks like he is about a week behind the others, I'm keeping him seperate to see if he can survive. I hope he does!!!

Wow, theres so many of them!!! Ive only got 17 or so. Unfortunately (with my eggs) I was told I would be lucky if two survived because they cannibalise on each other so I have to be careful. I want all 17 to stay alive! ^-^ Your babies are so cute, I want to hug them! They look just little little tadpoles ^-^

Mary, suggest you throw some hidy places in and split up into as many containers as you can.

Anything will do: ice cream tubs, marge pots, old dishes. It will help minimise losses; and for you to keep track of how many are surviving.

Remind us what you mated together please e.g wildtype plus albino.

Excellent piccy best of luck with them

just wondering do they not have to have oxygen for example air pump there is no water flow at all does that matter

Pump/air stone arerates the water mostly by agitating the surface. As long as the water is fresh and shallow they should be ok. Just think of a typical pond.

Plus you can always change the water or put lots of tees in an airline from a pump.

elle, if you want all 17 to survive, you need to split them all up as much as possible when they hatch. if they're in small groups of same-size it lessens the cannibalising.

There is an airstone and a filter in the tub also ther is somthing for them to hide in (although the tub is kept in a cool dark place most of the time anyway)- but i had just taken it all out to change the water when i took the photos.

I havn't had time to split them up yet (or count them accuratly!!!) but tomorrow is the day! i have heaps of one liter plastic tanks that i got for really really super cheap, they have been set up for 2 weeks now with plants, airstone, and some rocks that they can hide under/between. So i will move the bigger ones into those tanks. I've got some more on order and they might take another week to get here, so i'll leave the smallest ones in the tub together untill i get the other tanks. The big ones are already starting to get their front legs!!! So i'd better split them up before they make a snack out of eachother!!!! YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunatly Monster died last night. He was doing fine - he kept on growing even though he wasn't in his egg, but then he just couldn't hold on any longer XXXX RIP MONSTER XXXX

The mother is black - I think john and mik decided that she is a really dark wild type - and the father is that freaky thing i have, and no one can decide on what he actually is!!! LOL I'll post a pic of them to refresh your memory!

The father must be an albino with some pretty kinky genes cause half the babies are really dark grey and speckley black (like their mother), but the other half are yellow, really light grey and some of them are almost clear!!! (I have to be relly careful when i change the water that the clear ones don't go down the sink!!!

Ayway i'll post some pics.

I had a really close look at them all just before and there is a minni freak!!! it looks just like it's daddy!!! It's a bit early to tell what they are going to grow up looking like, but it has the same sort of eyes and the same colour skin and patterns!!!

Anyway here are a few pictures of my new family.

This is mummy. I couldn't get a good photo - she was too close to the glass - and wouldn't move and i couldn't get a photo without reflection unless i put the camera right up to the glass. there is a better photo in the post "pics".

Yeah, well i'm going to keep some but I can't keep all of them (although i don't want to part with them!!!) There is this guy who sells a lot of fish, hermet crabs, birds and all the accessories to go with these pets, he goes around to all the flea markets in the area and buy as many as i could give him. A few of my friends have already said that they want one or two as well.

Today they have little stumpy legs!!!!
