Here is the new tank, and Axels new friend Jasmina. We think it's a she but we are not sure. She is a real bully and she sometimes bites Axel on his legs. And we are a little bit worried if she keeps it up.Maybe we must separate the two into different tanks. Is it normal behaviour? Can you keep two male axies in the same tank whithout any fights? And another question. Is Jasmina a lecustic axolotl (she is white)?

Marianne,

I like your tank set-up

Yes, Jasmina is a Luecistic, white with black eyes.

Also, if you can get a tank divider, you can separate the two.

If the biting continues, or gets more serious, you need to seperate them for a while. If you feel they might get lonely you could get the tank divider to seperate them but then for a little while at least you could remove the divider for some play time.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
