looking at the tail,..would you guys guess it is a male??(axies are not fullgrown yet,..18 cm)

Very good looking axies. How are they on the glass bottom? any problems? But they all look really good. Your golden looks like mine only mine is about as fat as your leucistic. lol

Wow. It's amazing that there are axolotls all over the World. They have complete world domination!!!

That aside, I see no obvious signs that your golden is a male - Sorry? Time will tell.

hey guys,

Seems like the axies have no probs with the glass bottom

In time i will give them a substrate, still wondering if i should use riversand or little rocks to cover the ground.

the aquarium that the three of them live in is 100x50x50. I have another leucistic in the pond in the garden. Can't find him/her yet, so i'll wait untill the pond get's cleaned in autumm en find out if it has become a male or female

(it was still small when i put in the pond, 15cm)

I would use sand as your substrate. In my tank I have half sand half large river rocks and waste and food falls into cracks around the rocks and is hard to clean. So I would definitely use sand.

Very nice little axolotls Hugo. Your little leucistic reminds me of Claire's axolotl "Gustav" similar face markings and "stand straight up gills"

Hi Hugo!

Nice axies -- good for you, lots of fun!

When my axies were little, I kept them in a bare bottom tank. They got around just fine. And although I included a food dish, I felt this way they would not ingest any substrate. Now that they are MUCH bigger, they reside in a 20g tank, with large polished gravel (more like stones.) The stones are scattered mainly on one side of the tank. Since I hand feed them, I do not expect them to ingest any stones. They do appreciate plants, and hiding places. I will post a pic of their first tank so you get an idea.

I have a wild type, and a golden, just like yours!

I also use large river rock. I handfeed and avoid bloodworms, and have no problem with food in the gravel. Just gotta syphon, like any other substrate.
