Where can I buy Tadpoles

Where is a good place to buy a bunch of tadpoles. I am interested in trying to raise them. Currently I buy them from the pet store, raise them and turn them loose in my pond out side. But they get big and leave.

ummm, what species are you releasing into the wild? is it a native species?

If not, i recommend you curtail these activites immediatly because the introduction of non native animals is one of the leading causes of the decline of native amphibians and reptiles.

Yours sound like bullfrog tadpoles. Unless you are in CA or a few other Western states, they are likely native, but check range maps first.

What I need is some kind of amphibian bomb to get rid of all the bullfrog tads in our pond.

Bit drastic but get a few big fish or terrapins or an axolotol should clear out the tadpoles for you

Which would also be introduced species.

Perhaps I could rent a turtle from someone(or start a turtle hotel with free food...heheh)

I doubt axxies would be effective in the size pond I have...unless someone gives me like 20 adults.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
