I have seen some people reccommending it for sick axolotl's I think.. what does it do and how do you make one?

You should do a search for 'salt bath' and there are many results with instructions and people's experiences with them.

Basically you use 2-3 teaspoons of salt per litre of water (dechlorinated it first). You should do the baths for 10-15 minutes 3 times a day until a week after all of the fungus has disappeared. It is used for the treatment of fungus. Here is more info if you need: http://www.caudata.org/cc/articles/salt.shtml

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
