I'll apologise now ...

A fellow takes his sick salamander to a veterinarian.
The doctor looked the salamander over and told the owner that he was afraid there was nothing he could do for the amphibian.
“Please, doc, can’t you do something more?” the man pleaded.
The veterinarian went out and returned shortly with a Labrador Retriever. The dog sniffed the salamander all over and left the examining room.
“Come on, doc,” said the owner of the pet salamander, “surely there’s something else you can do.”
The doctor opened the door and in walked a cat. The cat walked all around the salamander, looking it up and down, and then left the room.
The doctor said that he just couldn’t help the poor salamander and handed the owner a bill for $350.
“350 Dollars!” the pet owner protested. “But an office visit is supposed to be only 50 dollars.”
The doctor replied, “Yes, but you also wanted a Lab test and a CAT scan.”

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
