Woke up this morning with hundreds of eggs attatched to the weed in the tank and one grumpy male and one tired female. Does anyone kmow where to get a daphina starting kit in a bit of a hurry here in New Zealand? would like to try and rare the babies if possible, Thanks

Hi Judy and welcome to the site. I am moving your question to the newt and salamander help section.

I highly suggest NOT trying to raise all the offspring. There are many threads on this. Please browse through the forum for other threads along this line.

Are we talking about axolotls here? If so, we should move this to the Axolotl breeding area of the forum.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
